The Surgical Clinic I is an important treatment centre for visceral surgery at the left lower Rhine. A major area is the surgical treatment of tumour diseases and inflammatory or functional diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, the oesophagus, the liver and the pancreas by latest interdisciplinary concepts and in cooperation with the Medical Clinic I and further Partners. If modern scientific-proofed treatment-guidelines are overstrained, treatments for the individual case will be developed by frequent in-house conferences.

A Clinic’s feature is the so-called “thyroid centre”. Here endocrine surgery of the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal and pancreas is supported by the Medical Clinic I and The Clinic for Nuclear Medicine. A quarterly Endocrine Conference trains physicians in private practise and other partners of different fields.

Minimally Invasive Surgery and Fast-Track Medicine will be used as often as possible.

Our main aim is Surgery under optimal safety conditions. Potential encumbrances will be adjusted to the individual loading tolerance. The Clinic for Anaesthesia and Intensive Care provides modern treatment and care concepts at the Intensive Care Station or the Intermediate Care Station if necessary. Thanks to motivated and competent care the patient experiences his treatment in “save hands”.

Professor Verreet, Chief of the Surgical Clinic I, is authorised for advanced training in visceral surgery. Additionally the Clinic is a training centre for common trunk and focus general surgery.

Special consultations for visceral surgery, surgical oncology, hernia surgery, endocrine surgery and proctology are possible every week. Personal Consultations with Professor Verreet are possible, too. Just ask Professor Verreet’s office for appointments.
